Touch down in the slow-paced capital of Laos, where sacred stupas share space with faded French balconies and golden temples shimmer in the sun. Our guide and driver will greet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel.
Settle in, then ease into local life with a relaxed walk along the Mekong promenade. As the sun sets, locals gather for riverside strolls, kids kick footballs, and vendors serve spicy snacks and fresh coconut juice.
In the evening, browse the nearby night market for handwoven scarves, traditional crafts, or perhaps your first taste of sticky rice and grilled meat skewers.
NOTE: A surcharge applies for early check-in requests
Accommodation: Hotel in Vientiane
After breakfast, set out to explore Vientiane’s spiritual and colonial treasures. Visit Wat Phra Keo, once the home of the Emerald Buddha, and continue to Wat Sisaket, with its peaceful cloisters lined with thousands of tiny Buddhas.
Pause at the iconic Pha That Luang, a golden stupa considered the most sacred monument in Laos, before climbing to the top of Patuxay Monument, Laos’ Arc de Triomphe, for panoramic views of the city.
In the afternoon, leave the capital behind and journey north to Vang Vieng where jungle-topped limestone peaks rise dramatically from green rice fields.
Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: Hotel in Vang Vieng
Wake up surrounded by nature. This morning, paddle gently along the Nam Song River, flanked by towering cliffs and bamboo groves. You’ll feel a world away from modern life as water buffalo graze on the banks and children wave from village huts.
A short walk leads you to Angel Cave, tucked inside the limestone cliffs - a quiet, cool chamber filled with curious formations.
Optional adrenaline boost: Zipline through the treetops for a bird’s-eye view of the karst landscape (approx. USD 25/pax).
In the afternoon, wind down with a slow boat cruise back along the river, letting the light shift over the hills as Vang Vieng shows its most photogenic side.
Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: Hotel in Vang Vieng
If you’re feeling adventurous, rise before dawn for a hot air balloon ride over the valleys of Vang Vieng (optional: USD 100–200). Watch the first light break over the cliffs as the landscape glows beneath you — unforgettable.
Later, enjoy a gentle hike to the Nam Xay Viewpoint, a rocky hilltop offering a 360-degree panorama over fields, rivers, and dramatic peaks — a must for photographers.
Return to the hotel to freshen up and check out before boarding a high-speed train to Luang Prabang. Glide past rural villages and lush mountains until you reach this UNESCO World Heritage town nestled between rivers and forested hills.
Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: Hotel in Luang Prabang
Rise early to witness the quiet beauty of Tak Bat, the daily almsgiving ceremony. Watch barefoot monks move silently through the morning mist, collecting offerings from the faithful. You may choose to participate respectfully or observe in silence.
Climb the 328 steps to Mount Phousi, where a golden stupa overlooks the rivers and rooftops — a serene start to your day.
Continue to the National Museum, then visit Wat Xieng Thong, Luang Prabang’s most beloved temple, where intricate gold and crimson designs whisper centuries of devotion.
The rest of the day is free for you to explore charming laneways, relax by the Mekong, or enjoy a local massage.
Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: Hotel in Luang Prabang
Head into the countryside to Kao Niaw Farm, where you’ll join friendly locals for hands-on farming activities, perhaps rice planting or vegetable harvesting, depending on the season.
After working on the land, enjoy a delicious farm-to-table lunch, served under a shaded veranda with fresh ingredients from the garden.
In the afternoon, make your way to Kuang Si Falls, where milky turquoise pools cascade through jungle-covered tiers. Swim, relax, or simply breathe it all in.
Before leaving, visit the Free the Bears Sanctuary, home to rescued Asiatic black bears who now live safely within the forest.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: Hotel in Luang Prabang
Begin your day with a scenic cruise along the majestic Mekong River, heading upstream toward one of Laos’s most sacred spiritual sites: Pak Ou Caves. Perched high above the water where the Mekong meets the Nam Ou, this ancient cave sanctuary is home to Tham Ting and Tham Phum, two inner chambers filled with thousands of Buddha statues in every size and posture, placed by generations of pilgrims as symbols of faith and devotion.
Lunch is at your own expense.
This afternoon, enrich your cultural experience with visits to two riverside villages along the way:
- At Ban Xang Hai, discover the age-old tradition of crafting Lao Lao, the local rice whiskey. See how it’s distilled, and sample this fiery spirit if you wish.
- Continue to Ban Xang Khong, a village famous for its intricate Lao textiles woven on wooden looms and for the delicate art of Saa paper-making. This centuries-old craft uses mulberry bark and reflects a rich artisanal heritage.
As the sun begins its descent, enjoy a leisurely cruise back to Luang Prabang to return to your hotel and unwind after a culturally rich and soul-stirring day on the river.

Accommodation: Hotel in Luang Prabang
Enjoy your final breakfast in this enchanting town. Depending on your flight schedule, we’ll transfer you to the airport. Though you’re leaving Laos behind, the spirit of its temples, forests, and kind-hearted people will stay with you long after.

Thanks to Mandy from Seni World Travel we had a wonderful trip to Vietnam.
Everything was so organised, communication was excellent and we got to see the best of everything that Vietnam has to offer.
Airport pick-ups and drop-offs were a breeze and meeting Mandy in person was an absolute delight.

Vietnam was a wonderful experience for both of us. Vietnamtour.co.za, and especially our travel expert Vanessa Dao, took care of the arrangements in a calm and professional way, which made the journey feel very manageable from the start. We liked how clear the communication was and how smoothly everything fell into place once we arrived.
The guides were pleasant, the pace suited us well and we always felt comfortable. It was the kind of holiday where we could simply enjoy ourselves without worrying about what came next. A memorable and very enjoyable trip.
We recently returned from our holiday in Vietnam and we are still talking about it every day. What stood out the most for us was how calm and effortless the entire trip felt. We are not fast travellers, so we really appreciated the clear schedules and the guidance we received at each stop.
One of the moments we enjoyed most was sitting at a small café in Hoi An, watching the lanterns come on while our guide showed us photos of his family. It was small things like that that made the whole trip feel warm and genuine. The accommodations were comfortable, the tours were organised with care and we always felt safe and relaxed.
The team at vietnamtour.co.za checked in now and then just to make sure we were happy, which we found very thoughtful. Vietnam surprised us in many wonderful ways and we left feeling rested and inspired. Thank you for a memorable experience.

My wife and I had a 12 day tour of Vietnam starting in Hanoi then flying to Hoi an and finally to Ho Chi Minh city. Vanessa Dao helped us choose the itinerary. and ensured that everything went smoothly. We usually plan our own trips but being in such a foreign environment decided to go with a tour operator and found it to be a more relaxed experience having free days interspersed between organised excursions. Vanessa was always available for good advice should we need this.
Bring USD for exchange or withdraw Vietnamese Dong (VND) from ATMs on arrival. Credit cards are accepted in cities, but cash is preferred at markets and local shops. We advise avoiding South African Rand as banks in Vietnam do not exchange ZAR.
We use carefully selected 3 - 4 - 5 star hotels depending on your package. All hotels are centrally located and traveller-friendly. Upgrades and special requests (sea-view rooms, connecting rooms) are available.
