Vietnam tour through the eyes of South African tourists

The first shares are from those who took the Graceful journey from North to South in Vietnam with their friends and family last December.

“…Vietnam is a fascinating and diverse country and our travel experience included Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An, and Saigon, with day trips to Bana Hills, Mekong Delta, and the Cu Chi tunnels. The weather in December/January in the North (Hanoi and Halong Bay) and Central regions (Hue and Hoi An) was cold and raining but this did not deter us from getting around and seeing the historic and beautiful sites. Ho Chi Minh City was vibrant and the weather warm, with little rain. We stayed at the Majestic Hotel Saigon - on the Saigon River and this turned out to be a great choice to a hotel. I can highly recommend it. ….” - Daved1506

“My Wife Reetha & I and my friend Neeri had the MOST AWESOME holiday in Vietnam & Cambodia for 14 Nights. ... From the first day, we experienced absolute bliss and paradise. The Sights and Sounds intrigued us. Rich in Culture and a Heritage & Adventure...it just blew us away. The Highlights are too numerous to mention but these are the stand out ones: Vietnamese Food; Ha Long Bay Overnight Cruise; Massages; Ba Na Hills (near Hoi An); Golden Hands Bridge (near Hoi An); Mekong Delta Cruise; Cu Chi Tunnels (HCMC); War Remnants Museum (HCMC); Pub Street (Siem Reap); Night Markets; Tours (Silk Farm; Coconut farm; Brickmaking factory; Rice Wine factory; Mat making factory; Vietnam Cooking lessons; Ho Chi Minh Museum & Palace; Museum of Ethnology; Vietnam's First University; Angkor Wat & Shopping. It can be described as a Sensory Overload. I will definitely return to this beautiful part of the World within the next year or two.” - Anibal Wanth

Struggle with your work and need a break? These helpful reviews below are definitely for you and your besties to plan your next adventure in Vietnam:

“... Our journey started from South Africa to Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, Hoi An, and Hanoi. We were warmly welcomed by wonderful tour guides, job well done. We had an awesome experience that will last us for many years to come, with unforgettable memories. Each city had unique Beauty to it with great history. We enjoyed the Vietnamese food and especially the cold traditional coffee with condensed milk in it. One of the highlights of our tour was the Halong Bay, breathtaking experience. … We highly recommend the Vietnamtour/Ashley to all interested in visiting Vietnam” - Clara and Sinazo

“A friend and I had the pleasure of having our week in Vietnam organized by Thu Ha, a tour operator for this company. What a pleasure it was. The arrangements were perfect, everything went according to clockwork and she herself went the extra mile by checking in daily and keeping constant watch to make sure everything was going according to plan. The guides in each section were wonderful warm people who could not do enough for us. Tan, who introduced us to Ho Chi Minh City, was excellent- impeccable manners, extremely knowledgeable and in his efficient manner ensured that we saw as much as possible in the limited time we had available. Highlights of the tour had to be the overnight cruise in Halong Bay, the cooking class and ancient city in Hoian and the day spent on the Mekong Delta with the stop at the coconut groves along the banks of the river. Especially heartwarming was the insights into some of the dwelling places of the local people where we were privy to the art of making tofu and the weaving of the sleeping mats. The stand out reasons to visit Vietnam have to be the warmth and gentleness as of its people and the delicious cuisine...” - Shelley H

If you claim that after 50, you should stay home and take care of your children or grandchildren, think again. Mrs. Katrine’s opinion will change your mind for sure:

“I recently at 64 decided to go to Vietnam. As a lone older female I was a bit nervous. Luckily for me I found vietnamtour.co.za. They planned the entire trip for me including train trips tours and a plane trip and all hotels. I was met in Hanoi by a charming English speaking guide and then met at the hotel by Kelly and her partner. We went to sample local food at a very busy street food vendor and I was sold on the food the noise and the charm of the Vietnamese people. I traveled from Hanoi all the way to Saigon with various stops in between. At each stop, I was met and looked after by their staff and often was taken on a tour…”- Katrine P

“Really couldn't have asked for a better holiday. We first thought it must be a scam, as it couldn't be true, because of their amazing price. But it wasn't! It was real even though it felt like a dream. Excellent service, well-organized, amazing views, friendly service, showing us just the right amount of local unique-ness and giving us time at leisure. Simply amazing! Would go again tomorrow!” Namibia, Southern Africa – review on FB

“My family and I had the privilege of visiting Vietnam in December. We absolutely loved the country and the people. We booked our trip through Vietnam Tours. Our travel consultant was Ashley and she was awesome. She could not do enough for us and even met us at the hotel when we arrived with a bag of goodies! Thank you Vietnam tours for making our trip unforgettable!!” - Cluedo11

Mandy and His family Joining a Cooking Class During our tour in Vietnam

“What an amazing experience we had during our trip to Vietnam. Fourteen days of pure happiness. From the time we booked with Vietnam Tours to the time we had to leave (with heavy hearts). The Vietnam Tour Company (and specifically Ashley Tran) made the planning so easy. She came back to us promptly, gave advice on the best way to plan the trip and had infinite patience, even though it could not be easy – we changed plans four times! She helped arrange our visa approval letters and sent the application forms beforehand so that everything went smoothly upon arrival. Putting together a program for six people ranging in age from 14 – 78 years is not easy. I must commend the tour guides. They were always punctual, informative and entertaining and their English is good so it made the experience even better. And thank goodness for the good drivers that transported us. They certainly know how to drive! Barring a few minor issues, which we took in our stride (it was after all a holiday and life happens), the entire experience was wonderful. From Hanoi to Halong Bay to Hoi An to Ho Chi Minh City we had fun. And of course, we shopped until we dropped! We will definitely use this company again for our travels to Cambodia and we will be back in Vietnam – if only for the wonderful food. Thank you, Ashley, for your wonderful service.” - Nevina Smith

“Our 13 day tour started with a friendly, warm welcome by Ha Nguyen ("our" Travel Consultant) at Hanoi after a grueling flight from South Africa. Her professional, caring demeanor was amazing! She took care of all arrangements which were precise and on time throughout our trip (Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc Island including a few excursions) and she was always available for advice and was constantly checking with my wife (via Whapp) if we were OK and enjoying ourselves! Unheard of service! The Tour Guides she arranged for our excursions have well conversed in English and professional with a fantastic wealth of information on the history of Vietnam (Dan in Hanoi, Le Viet on Ha Long Bay cruise, Mai Dung Nguyen in Ho Chi Minh City and Mekong Delta). We were initially skeptical entrusting an unknown person/group with our high expectations in a foreign Country whose language was even more foreign! What a surprise when we soon realized they were consistently exceeding our "high" expectations every day with even higher professional care and attentiveness than what we could ever wish for!

Vietnam is an amazing Country with beautiful, caring people, great food, rich History and, wow, they know how to ride scooters!!!

We can highly recommend Vietnamtour as the best Tour Operators ever, especially the amazing attention we received from Ha Nguyen that made us feel so special. She even contacted my wife the day after we arrived back in South Africa to check if our flights were OK and on time!!! Unbelievable - words cannot express our gratitude, admiration and respect towards Ha for going the extra mile every step of the way!!

The "Unknown person" has become a lifelong friend... to coin an old phrase: "We will be back"!! Hen Gap Lai - See you again!” - Dirk & Ronel, Cape Town, South Africa
