Today, take a drive from Yangon to Kyaikhtiyo for around 5 hours. The area is home to the famous landmark of Myanmar – the Golden Rock. The sacred rock - Golden Rock lies on a protruding rock through 2000 years of history. The Rock with the temple on it has created an extremely unique relic. . The pagoda here is said to hold a hair of the Buddha and Buddhists from across the country come here to pay homage. Along the way, make a stop at the Allied War memorial park where thousands of soldiers rested in peace.
When reaching Kin Pun located on the foot of the mountain, board on a local truck for a ride on a winding road to the top of the mountain. If you wish a more challenging adventure, you could stop half way and take a walk to the summit for around one hour.
Note: The local trucks from the camp could be crowded and uncomfortable. You should be patient as the trucks just leave when it is full of passengers. Make sure to get in time in Kinpun at 5.30, if not, you cannot get a truck to the top.

If you wish a more comfortable vehicle, private trucks are available with extra cost. Once reaching the Golden Rock, you will marvel at the stunning gleam as well as the surroundings. Pilgrims come here from far and wide to worship and add gold leaf to the rock, which seems to defy gravity by delicately balancing on the edge of the 1100-metre high mountain. Take your time to soak up in the breathtaking views of the rock at sunset. Transfer back to the hotel.

OPTION: TRAIN RIDE FROM YANGON TO BAGO – SURCHARGE: US$ 3/pax
Among the vehicles travelling around Myanmar, train is perhaps the best means of transport to explore the country in spite of its poor facilities and frequent delays and cancellations. Compared to trains in other countries, trains in Myanmar feature an average speed which allows you to enjoy the scenic rural scenery and interact with the locals. You will be transferred to Yangon’s central train station and take a train to Bago. The departure time is around 7.15 and the arrival time around 9.15. From Bagan, take a car to the Golden Rock., around 3.5 hours.
In the morning, take the chance to visit the Golden Rock again to immerse into the spectacular scene of the temple in the golden light at the sunrise. There is also some time to visit some stupas and shrines dotted on the ridge at the top of Mount Kyaikhtiyo. Then, drive or trek back to the base camp and head back to Luang Prabang.
On the way back, make a stop in Bago for a short rest or an exploration of the former capital. Take a leisurely stroll around the local market to get a glimpse of the local life. Continue your journey to the famous Shwemawdaw Pagoda - the tallest pagoda in Bago. With its height of 114 meters it is 15 meters taller than the Shwedagon Pagoda in nearby Yangon. The impressive Shwemawdaw- built by the Mon people over a thousand years ago, is one of Burma’s most sacred sites. Continue onto the 55-metre long reclining Shwethalyaung Buddha, the four seated Buddhas at Kyaikpun and the old palace of Kambozathadi. If time permits, you also visit Hantharwaddy Pagoda to explore interesting Nat figures and enjoy the great view of Bago from the upper platform.
Transfer back to your hotel in Yangon. Lunch and dinner on your own.
